The CPD Accreditation of Training Bodies page publishes a numbered list of seven expectations of training providers, covering qualification and competence, training resources, product sourcing, training environment and safety, a written complaints procedure, insurance, and professional conduct. The What paperwork is required? page lists the documents required for online courses, face-to-face courses, and events, conferences and articles, including teaching qualifications, per-course certificates, training manuals, a business logo and a set of policies. The same page states that teaching qualifications "must be Qfqual backed qualifications" [sic]. The CPD Accreditation of Training Bodies page also states that an accredited organisation "has been assessed against internationally recognised standards". We looked for those standards, or a reference identifying them, and did not find them on the pages reviewed.
Pricing is published on the Pricing Plans page: Starter, 1–5 courses, £199 annually, renewal £199, additional courses £55 each; Premium, 6–10 courses, £349 annually, renewal £349, additional courses £44 each; Platinum, 11–20 courses, £549 annually, renewal £549, additional courses £33 each; Diamond, unlimited courses, £849 annually, renewal £549. The Terms and Conditions page states that the price "is exclusive of any applicable Value Added Tax".
Terms and Conditions specific to the accreditation service are published, covering the Academy Charter, access to records and premises, complaints, reviews, withdrawal of approval, the 12-month accreditation period and renewal, insurance, invoicing, and use of the organisation's logos and trade name. The page states that training materials submitted "will never be shared with a third party, another training provider, or be made publicly available".
A privacy policy is published. It states that it "is effective from 1st January 2020" and refers to the Data Protection Act 1998. The published text contains two unreplaced placeholders, "[email address]" and "[address]". It states that a subject access request carries a fee: "A small fee will be payable."
A complaints procedure is published on the Report an Academy page, setting out a three-stage route for a student to raise a complaint with a training provider before reporting that provider to the organisation after 30 days. The Terms and Conditions page states: "The Centre of CPD Excellence will not get involved with students complaints, nor intervene with a Centres final decision." We looked for a published procedure for complaints about the accreditation service itself and did not find one on the pages reviewed.
On individual assessment, the What paperwork is required? page states that a certificate is required "For every course you wish to teach and have accredited" and that manuals "will need to be provided for every course you would like to accredit". The CPD Accreditation of Training Bodies page states: "With a panel of specialists, we are able to evaluate and assess the training provider".
On unique numbering and verification, the Report an Academy page states that the Academy Number "is a unique number given to our academies" and that it "can be found on our website on the academies listing or found on your certificate". The number described is issued to an academy. We looked for a statement that individual accredited courses carry their own unique number and did not find one on the pages reviewed. A searchable member directory is published, showing academy name, Centre Number, renewal date and location; it returned 247 results at the date of review.
On review and renewal, the Terms and Conditions page states that accreditation "runs for 12 months from the date of agreement/acceptance" and that renewal fees "are due 7 days prior to your renewal date". The CPD Accreditation of Training Bodies page states that checks "include annual reviews of insurance cover validity, CPD compliance and undercover spot checks where appropriate". The Academy Charter requires every trainer "to undertake a minimum of 30 hours of additional CPD learning every year".
We searched the ICO register of data protection fee payers by name ("Centre of CPD Excellence" and "cpd excellence") and by postcode (W1A 6US). Each search returned: "There are no entries that match your search criteria."
